Central Florida ESA is proudly sponsored by Ron Jon Surf Shop! Please support our sponsor!

It is with huge, heartfelt gratitude that we thank Ron Jon Surf Shop for the amazing support.

As a non-profit athletic organization and surf community, that operates in large part on volunteers’ contributions, we realize that we would not be able to provide the excellent experiences the ESA represents to many individuals and families if it were not for the generosity and financial support that this iconic and tremendous company provides to us.

It is very special whenever a company looks to its community and in so many ways gives back. Ask yourself how lucky we are to have the unique activities and events that we have and realize that this is not the norm. We have so much going on here on the Space Coast. We are surrounded with beauty, a bountiful ocean and so many wonderful people eager to make our world a better place!

Thanks Ron Jon – you are family

Good Luck at 2015 Easterns!

Best of luck to all of our Central Florida ESA competitors! Easterns is the greatest amateur surf event ever and it is only possible because of the greatness of each individual. Each competitor, each volunteer, every fan, and our devoted staff members. Cream always rises to the top and The Eastern Surfing Association has proven itself and so has it’s members, for nearly 50 years! We are all, each and every one of us, blessed to have a relationship with the ocean. With respect for our beaches and environment, we become far more than surf athletes. We are ambassadors for the living force that is the ocean, which gives life to all on Earth! Never take this role lightly, and know that we are so proud to not only have the best surf family ever, but we have an even larger impact when we carry ourselves as stewards of the beach… CFL Pride!

Go Big! Have fun! Smile a lot!

Go Big! Have fun! Smile a lot!

Please see the slots open, by district, for the 2015 ESA SE Regional Surfing Championships. You can compare with the CFL Standings here. Ex. If your division says 4 in the slots column, that means that the top 4 in your division from our district have a slot. That is, if they register by the cut-off (date to be announced). We strongly encourage everyone who would like to compete to go ahead and register. If you don’t have a slot, register as an alternate. If slotted competitors are not registered, the slots go to alternates and your chances of compete are greatly increased. If, for some reason, you don’t get the slot your entry will be refunded. So there’s nothing to lose with respect to fees. Please go here to register. Make sure your ESA membership is current through September 2015. This has been a rule forever and is in place to insure that all competitors competing in “post-season” events have current membership through the time Easterns runs in September. Come represent the home town as Central Florida is once again hosting the Southeast Regional Championships!

This is a Contest 5 – Wave Watch – Possible Back-up Date Announcement
Running surf contests is fun! Way more fun, when there’s waves! Anyone who surfs in Florida in the summer time knows it can be a real challenge to find a bump out there. We are trying to fix our wave machine, but in the meantime, we have booked Saturday and Sunday December 13-14 in hopes that by Friday morning we will be able to make the call. This way we can hopefully insure that we’re surfing on the better of the 2 days as well as helping everyone to plan their weekend with plenty of notice.

So, please let everyone know, Friday morning we will post whether the contest will be held Saturday or Sunday. No need to message us, it will be posted.

Thanks and let’s pray for surf! See you on the beach!!

Current standings now posted!

Snapshot ESAWell, we have surfed 4 contests so far for our 2014 season! It is our intention to surf the remaining scheduled events, conditions permitting. For those of you who took advantage of our “Double Point” contest 4, you may find you’re in a great position in the season rankings. Keep in mind, in keeping with our ESA rule, whenever we surf at least 4 events during our season, we always deduct the surfer’s low score. Example – If a surfer won 3 events but missed 1 the year-end ranking will be calculated like (1000+1000+1000+0) or (3000-0) for a total of 3000 points as compared to say another surfer who surfed all 4 events and, for example, placed (3rd,3rd,2nd,4th) (points are totaled 810+810+900+729) = 3249, Then the the low score is dropped (3249-729=2520) – So, you can see how coming into the final event, Surfer 2 was leading the points ranking, but after the “low score drop”, surfer 1 is now in the lead. This was put into effect many years ago in an attempt to truly find the consistent winners. Let’s face it, even the best surfers have “bad” days. Or, maybe a surfer was ill and had to miss an event. The low event drop is a great way to show your best events. Keep this in mind, even if you haven’t missed any events. If you do better in the upcoming events, you get to drop your contest from the year-end total. Who will be our 2014 Division Season Champs? Have a look at the current standing here.  Don’t forget to register for our December contest and thanks to all of our surfers and friends for making this a great season so far!
